The Lord’s Prayer (3)

What is the meaning of the words “hallowed be thy name” from The Lord’s Prayer (from Matthew 6)?  That prayer is the subject of our Bible studies in the Anglican church in Arnhem-Nijmegen.   In my preparation I created this document with background quotes from ancient and contemporary theologians, to give myself the materials to eventually write a bit more on The Lord’s Prayer.  ‘Hallowed be thy name’.  This does not mean: “I must hallow the name of God’. Jesus does not teach us to pray in order to give us a few new commandments.  Surely, we must hallow God’s name, but the prayer has another primary meaning, I believe.  In case you are interested to read my preparations, go to this attachment: Lesson 3 – Hallowed by Thy name
